Anatomy Breakdown Series: Part 3- Inversions
with Anthony Davis
***This workshop is by donation! (Details below)***
Arm balances are more than flashy ways to garner praise. If you never spend any time putting weight in your hands and your trip and break your fall with your hands, what happens to the wrist? There is a practical and functional reason to get upside down, and there are also many very fun and even philosophical reasons to do so. Let's get serious about having fun with this exploration of Inversions!
Practice and learn safe anatomical principles regarding inversions and arm balances. Learn to think critically and creatively about your practice.
This workshop is appropriate for both students and teachers alike, who wish to better understand the human body and deepen their connection to themselves and others through the common vessel which holds us all.
We will begin with a thorough and informative practice to begin to experience inversions before we get to the geeky stuff. After a much needed savasana we will spend time analyzing the sequencing, anatomy, and physiology of what we just practiced. We will then take a deep dive into the anatomy behind Inversions, and look at how to incorporate these principles into our daily movement patterns, our exercise, our practice, and our teaching.
11am-1pm, Sunday December 3
