Hospitals once again in crisis | Medizynicus doctor blog

After a shortage of doctors and nurses, hundreds of hospitals are facing the next crisis, as the German Hospital Association (DGK) has pointed out in a position paper. For the implementation of important requirements in the fields of quality management, data protection, occupational safety and gender equality, several thousand jobs are required nationwide in the area of hospital management and administration. The cost-neutral creation of these posts is only possible through the rededication of medical service and nursing posts. There are several models for this, i.a. the creation of a new medical specialist career for administrative medicine or nursing staff for file maintenance. According to the latest position paper, the forces should be withdrawn above all from the emergency rooms, so that their capacity is reduced in the sense of a bottleneck, with which fewer patients can be hospitalized and thus also the other departments of the houses can be relieved. As the DKG continued to announce, the proposals have already met with great interest from policymakers and health insurances.
